Things that are pretty awesome: after I struggled with the LinkedIn OAuth process, I received an e-mail from a Temboo staffer offering some links to documentation that may be helpful. I e-mailed him back with some specifics about the challenges I’m tackling, and I’m hoping he may be able to help me figure out a workaround. Regardless of the outcome, I’m pretty impressed with Temboo’s customer service.

Things that are not very awesome: after a few back-and-forth e-mails with the Temboo customer service rep about my problems getting the SearchJobsbyKeyword choreo to run successfully, they realized that LinkedIn has added another security step for Job Searches and that developers who wish to include that functionality in their app need to apply for Vetted API Access (which, by the way, could take up to 15 days.) So that’s kind of disappointing. I applied for access, and I’m hoping that they’ll approve my application in the next 24 hours since it’s for artistic and educational purposes.

In the meantime, I’m going to start working on the visual aspect of Project 1. I’m also going to explore other options for retrieving similar information in case I don’t get the API access I need soon. I did a quick search and discovered that I may be able to retrieve data from craigslist, but I’m not sure whether or not I’ll be able to retrieve it the way I want, and Temboo hasn’t created a craigslist choreo yet.
